V-Varen Nagasaki

今日は妻の実家がある長崎での話。
私が小学校から高校までサッカーをしており、サッカーには少しうるさい。
自然と、長崎のプロサッカークラブ「V-ファーレン長崎」を応援するようになりました。
…ちなみに、「ブイファーレン」と呼ぶと”にわか”がバレるので要注意。正しくは「ヴィファーレン」です。

クラブが戦うのはJ2リーグ。
2024シーズンはリーグ3位と好成績を収めながら、昇格プレーオフで涙をのむ結果に。
「来季こそJ1へ」――そんな想いを胸に挑んだ2025シーズンも、現在第23節を終えてなお、2位から8位までがわずか勝ち点3差という大混戦。気の抜けないシーズンが続いています。

そして迎えた今日の一戦。
相手は、昨年プレーオフで敗れた因縁のベガルタ仙台。
勝ち点では並ぶも、順位は仙台が2位、長崎は8位。
勝てば2位浮上の可能性もある――まさに「天王山」と言える大一番でした。

…しかし、結果はスコアレスドロー。
チャンスはつくるも、ゴールは遠く。
悔しさを残しつつも、また次の試合に向けて、前を向くのみです。

さて、今日はこの試合の話だけではありません。
実は今、長崎の選手・名倉 巧（なぐら たくみ）選手がチームを一時離脱しています。
理由は、悪性腫瘍の治療に専念するため。
現在は地元・東京で闘病中とのことです。

そんな名倉選手に向けて、チームだけでなく、
J1クラブを含めた数多くのクラブから温かいエールが寄せられています。
そして今日の試合後には、対戦相手のベガルタ仙台の選手たちからも。
また、隣県・アビスパ福岡からも応援メッセージが届いていました。

この光景に、胸が熱くなりました。

立場は違っても、ライバルであっても、
仲間を思いやる気持ちが、ピッチを越えて届く。
こういう瞬間に出会うと、改めて「サッカーっていいな」と、心から思います。

名倉選手が再びピッチに戻って来られる日を、心から信じて待っています。
そしてそのとき、ヴィファーレン長崎がJ1という舞台に立っていられますように。

2025シーズン、残すところあと4ヶ月。
正念場はここから。
チーム一丸となって、そしてサポーターも共に――

My wife’s family is from Nagasaki, and having played soccer from elementary through high school, I naturally became a supporter of the city’s professional club, V-Varen Nagasaki.
(And here’s a tip: true fans pronounce it “Vi-Varen,” not “Bui-Varen.”)

The team competes in the J2 League. In the 2024 season, they finished a strong 3rd place but fell short in the promotion playoffs. Determined to reach J1 this year, they now find themselves in a fierce battle—after 23 rounds, only three points separate 2nd from 8th place.

Today’s match was against Vegalta Sendai, the very team that ended their playoff hopes last year. Both sides were tied on points, with Sendai in 2nd and Nagasaki in 8th. A win could have propelled Nagasaki into 2nd place. It was, without doubt, a crucial showdown.

The result, however, was a scoreless draw. Chances came, but no breakthrough. Frustrating, but the fight goes on.

Off the pitch, the team is rallying behind midfielder Takumi Nagura, who is currently away from the squad undergoing treatment for a malignant tumor in his hometown of Tokyo. Messages of support have poured in not only from V-Varen and their fans but also from other clubs across Japan, including J1 teams—and even from rivals like Vegalta Sendai and neighboring Avispa Fukuoka.

Moments like these remind me why I love football: rivals on the field, but united in spirit when it truly matters.

I believe Takumi Nagura will return to the pitch. And when he does, I hope V-Varen will be competing on the J1 stage.

With four months left in the 2025 season, the real battle begins now—players and supporters together, aiming for the very top.
