初詣

明けましておめでとうございます。鬼塚です。
初詣で福岡市東区にある筥崎宮を訪れました。筥崎宮は、放生会や地元のプロ球団である福岡ソフトバンクホークス、ライジングゼファー福岡の選手たちが参拝に訪れることで広く知られています。また、日本三大宮の一つとしてもその名を馳せています。

元旦の昼前に到着したところ、既に参拝者の大行列ができており、行列の途中から最後尾まで歩くことに約20分を要しました。先頭に到達するまでには、3時間ほどかかるであろうことが予想されました。初詣に50万人訪れるといいますので、そりゃそうですよね。この長時間の待機は流石に無理だと思ったので本堂に直接向かい、拝礼だけを済ませることにしました。本堂に向かうと、祈願の受付があり、すぐに案内していただけるとのことでした。祈祷には少し費用がかかりますが、長時間の待機を避けることができ、非常に効率的でした。祈願も希望通りに行い、心身ともに清々しい気持ちで新年を迎えることができました。来年からはこの方法一択です。かなりお勧めですよ。ただ、祈願後にお札とお守りを購入したのですが、祈願後に受け取った品と全く同じお札とお守りが入っており、苦笑いするしかなかったです（笑）ちなみに、本堂に掲げてある、「敵国降伏」とは何とも軍国主義的な聞こえがありますが、これは建立の際、鎌倉期の亀山上皇の御宸筆(ごしんぴつ、天皇の自筆）を小早川隆景公が模写したもので、「武力で相手を降伏させるのではなく、徳の力をもって導き、相手が自らなびき降伏するという王道である」とされています。ここでいう降伏は戦争用語ではなく仏教用語のようです。
今年は早々にアメリカの大統領就任式という世界にとっても日本にとっても今年を左右する行事があります。
石破さんには是非とも頑張っていただきたいものです。

New Year’s Visit to Hakozaki Shrine in Hakata

For my New Year’s visit, I went to Hakozaki Shrine in Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City. The shrine is well-known for being visited by local teams like the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks and Rising Zephyr Fukuoka, and is one of Japan’s Three Great Shrines.

I arrived just before noon on New Year’s Day and found a long line, taking about 20 minutes to walk from the middle to the back. With an estimated 500,000 visitors, I decided to head directly to the main hall. There, I found that I could immediately register for a prayer. While there was a small fee, it was much more efficient than waiting in line. I made my prayer and felt refreshed for the new year. I’ll definitely follow this approach next year—highly recommended!

Afterward, I bought an amulet and talisman, only to find the same items already included in my prayer offering. It gave me a little chuckle.

By the way, the phrase “敵国降伏” (defeat the enemy) in the main hall is often misunderstood. It’s based on calligraphy by Emperor Kameyama, and in this context, it means “leading others to surrender through virtue” rather than through force. It’s a Buddhist term, not military.

This year, with the U.S. presidential inauguration and other significant events, I hope for progress and success for all.
